Weekly review
The habit that keeps your system current and trustworthy.
The weekly review is the single most important habit in GTD. GTDEasy walks you through it step by step.
GTD tip: set aside a block of 45 to 60 minutes a week for your weekly review. Try to be in a quiet place and to do it on the same day and time every week.
Before you start, do a mind sweep: if anything is on your mind, capture it in your Inbox. Remember to process your physical in-trays too (mailbox, notes, notebooks).
The 7 steps
- Process inbox: clarify anything still pending in your Inbox.
- Previous calendar: review your calendar for the past week and check whether any action is still pending.
- Upcoming calendar: review your calendar for the coming weeks and prepare for what is ahead.
- Next actions: complete, delete, postpone or re-clarify the ones that need it.
- Waiting / Delegated: check what you are waiting on from others and follow up if needed.
- Projects: make sure every active project has at least one identified next action.
- Someday / Reference: decide whether it is time to activate any project or task, and go over your reference material.
You can mark each step as Done, skip it, or go back; and on the last step, Finish review. If you leave the review halfway, you pick it up where you left off.
You can start your review from Weekly review, in More.
